I once prayed to God to win a
race at school.
I came last. That night I realised what I
should have prayed for was some athletic ability.
I did eventually win a couple of races at
school but after that it went rapidly down hill.
Now the only athletic event I could
possibly compete in would be if the Olympics
had smoking as a sport and I could assure
you that if they did I would be Captain of
the Russian team.
Luckily this is not an event and as I tell my students-
don't ever put one to your lips. |
SCHOOL
ATHLETIC CARNIVAL-
A very talented and beautiful Aboriginal girl
once said to me "I'm on now Miss, what do
I do?" I said "given the fact you have outstanding
natural ability, my suggestion would be Patricia,
to simply go out there and run as fast as you can,
that should do the trick." Bless her heart, after
she had won, she said "you were right Miss." |
SKATING
We all remember the speed skater who won a medal when
the first few competitors fell over. The world went - wasn't he lucky.
What was lucky about it? The bloke had dedicated ten years of training
to it. Spent every waking moment training for the event. It was just
that the others were unlucky (maybe some-one above was having a slow day
and sent an invisible bowling ball across the track and said "that will
show you, maybe you should have been helping others or doing something
useful instead of skating around on the thin ice of a new day" to
coin a Led Zepplin.

RUNNING FOR
YOUR LIFE
Greyhounds of course take running for your life to new dimensions. If
they can't run fast enough they are in trouble.
Interesting every greyhound on my farm from the moment he learns how to
as a puppy and the old ones all run for their lives every day for
the sheer joy and love of it.

Winning however is Real Exciting (at the Lismore Track) Real Exciting -
Real Trick x Excite Ability.

GOLD MEDALS
Apparently many Olympic Athletes
fall in a pit of depression not long after they win a Gold Medal. What
did they think would happen? After years of incredible dedication and
pain you get a gold medal, a bunch of flowers and a kiss from some girl
in a national costume. That's why I have never set one of my life goals
as- win an olympic medal and of course the fact I couldn't run out of
sight at night.(wearing a black tracky and trainers) and being basically
bone idle I couldn't get up early, let alone get up early and go to the
pool and swim 3 kilometres, just the thought of that makes me feel
tired.

WINNING is very important because;
1. It sends a surge of chemicals through your body that make you feel
good for about 90 seconds.
2. Your grandchildren will want to hear endless tales about your
triumphs- when they say Grandpa will you read me a story while handing
you a Care Bears book it , is just to give you enough time to remember
the company takeover from 1982.
3. The people you beat will love you for it.
4. Your family will have a new found respect as you take control of
every aspect of home life regardless of what anyone else wants.
5. The people whose money you invested unwisely will get over it and the
press will photograph you outside the court with a towel over your head.
Like the people you ripped off are not going to know what you look like.
6. And if you are a really nice bloke, with an amazing amount of talent
and you do like thousands of other men do "play around" the entire world
gets to see your humiliation.
WIN- WIN SEEMS TO WORK BETTER IN DEALING WITH OTHERS- IT IS A BIT HARDER
TO PULL OFF THO.
